Westercon: The Saga Continues
When no bids for Westercon 77 were submitted in time to be voted on at Westercon 75, a caretaker committee was established to find someone to host it or to run it themselves if necessary.
That committee has now announced that Westercon 77 will be hosted by BayCon 2025, July 4-7 in Santa Clara, California. A teaser video has been released on Dropbox.
BayCon’s move from its traditional Memorial Day weekend dates to Westercon’s traditional Fourth of July weekend dates in 2022 is one of the factors that has been blamed for Westercon’s current instability. A pending rule change expected to be ratified at Westercon 76 this year (Salt Lake City, July 4-7) will remove the requirement for Westercons to be held on that specific weekend.
The site for Westercon 78 in 2026 should be chosen at Westercon 76, but no bids for Westercon 78 have yet been announced.

Spooky Empire (Charleston, South Carolina, August 23-25) has added David Howard Thornton, Damien Leone, Amelie McLain, Courtney Gains, and CJ Graham as guests.
FanX Salt Lake (Salt Lake City, Utah, September 26-28) has added Ricky Whittle, Dave Wittenberg, Patrick Seitz, and Logic as guests.
Cincinnati Comic Expo (Cincinnati, Ohio, October 18-20) has added Catherine Disher as a guest.
