Colossalcon North has either a walkout or mass firing, and news in brief.

Colossalcon North Falls Out With Cosplay Staff

Colossalcon North, an anime convention held in the Wisconsin Dells this past weekend, abruptly separated from its cosplay department after a member of Colossalcon’s management berated the staff in front of other attendees.

The fullest account available publicly is this TikTok video from its.hakc (2:35 running time). The root of the disagreement is said to be an organizational change a few months ago which isolated the cosplay department from all other departments. At the con, the final rupture happened when the cosplay staff were called into a meeting which instead led to the incident above, followed by the entire department either quitting or being removed by management.

Nerd and Tie has a photo of a handwritten announcement of the cosplay competition being called off, but Colossalcon North’s Facebook page announced that it was still on.

No reasons have emerged yet for the reorganization, the planned meeting, or the public tirade by the member of management. Other TikTok videos which may have had additional personal accounts of the incident are not currently accessible.

Colossalcon has yet to comment publicly about any of this.
